RED CROSS
- Prof. Anand Vijaysarathy, Philosophy Department,
was inducted as Asst. Programme
Officer.
- The YRC inauguration was held on the United
India Friendship Day Celebrations on 3-8-05. 750 students tied the
friendship band. The friendship band was approved by the Anna University
Vice Chancellor Dr. K. Viswanthan and sent to the Hon’ble President of
India.
- Personality development test was conducted for
50 students.
- 25 YRC students donated blood on Jan 12th
2006.
- 15 YRC volunteers led by Reji, Ganesh, M.
Praveen Kumar (III B.Sc Maths) participated in World AIDS day campaign on
5/12/2005 at Image Auditorium,
- Candle Light March for Tsunami Victims was
attended by 17 students at Children Garden Institution. On 25/12/2005.
- The 32nd Kamalal Bajaj Memorial Inter
-Community was attended by Harish (YRC) at Gandhi Peace Centre Wadah
(Nagpur) representing University of Madras. He was given consolation
prize.
- 25 Volunteers assisted Traffic Police in Traffic
regulation programme - Friends of Police.
- 6 Students represented the college in the Ramakrishna Vijayam Competition and 2
students won a prize and a shield.
- Volunteers formed YRC Human Chain for
Eradicating Illiteracy in the country. Swami Satyapriyananda, Secretary,
and Dr. V. V. Subramanian, were the inspirational force.
- 10 Students participated in the Geneva
Convention contest on Aug. 31st 2005.
- 100 students assisted Ophthalmic Eye Hospital
Service camp led by Dr. S. Jayakumar, Programme Officer, and Alex I B.Sc
from 12/9/2005 to 16/9/2005 from 7 am to 1 pm .
- 10 students assisted Rajayogam Astrological
Research Centre for Yogam. They rendered
service to 300 people for 2 days.
- 25 students visited the Gandhi Peace Foundation
Centre on Oct 2nd. They were given Literature on Mahatma
Gandhiji.
- 25 Students interacted with President of India
through Tele-Education Programme at UOM organized by Dr. S. P.
Thyagarajan, Vice Chancellor of Madras University.
- Swami Vivekananda Educational Panels were
displayed in two schools.
- First Aid classes are conducted by Dr. S.
Jayakumar on all Saturdays.
