DEPARTMENT OF TAMIL

Erode Thamizhanban inaugurated the Association’s Activities for the year on 21-07-05. Dr. S. Muthu delivered a talk on Thiru-p-paavai on 2^nd January 2006. Dr. Karu. Arumugam delivered the Rajaji Saiva Siddhanta Endowment lecture on 16^th March 2006.The Valedictory Function was held on 24-03-06 and the Valedictory Address was given by Prof. Guru Raghavendran.

Staff achievements:

Dr. K. M. Bapuji participated and presented papers in a number of seminars funded by UGC which include Thiruvengadavan University and Erode Arts and Science College etc. Dr. M.A. Manickavelu participated and presented research papers in many UGC sponsored seminars which include a National Seminar on “The growth of Saivate Tamil Literature in the 20^th Century” conducted by Annamalai University.

Dr. S. Sivasubramanian participated and presented research papers in many UGC sponsored seminars which include a National Seminar on poet Bharathidasan’s work organized by Annamalai university.

Student activities:

J. Karthikeyan of I B.Sc. Maths and K.Navaneethakrishnan of II B.Sc. Botany have been elected as Secretary and Joint Secretary of the Tamil Association.

P. Ambethkar of III B.Sc. Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology has been very a successful competitor in Tamil oratoricals. He bagged more than 20 prizes from various inter-collegiate competitions.
