ROTARACT CLUB

· For the year 2005-2006, Rotaract club was inaugurated by Rtn. Mr. Elangovan leading Lawyer, Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, on 31/8/2005 III B.Com Student Shanmugam took over as President.

· One-day orientation camp was held at Tonekala on Aug 15^th 2005.

· 25Trees and Plants were planted at Gayathri Matriculation School near Pon-Muthu Ramalingam Devar Statue on 3/9/2005.

· Impressive Eye Donation Rally was conducted by our Rotaract club in which 250 students participated on 4/9/2005.

· The Viveka Rotaract Club conducts meeting every Saturday, 10 such classes were held per semester.

· Our student volunteers (10) attended the cycle rally from Gandhi Statue to Gandhi Mandapam on Oct 2^nd 2006 Dr..S. Jayakumar, coordinated the Programme.

· Tele education Programme was conducted by Vice Chancellor Dr..S. P. Thyagarajan and 52 volunteers led by Dr. Jayakumar, Reji, Shanmugam, and Ganesh; students interacted with the Hon’ble President of India, Dr..A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

· Traffic regulation programme CCTP was done on various occasion such as Pongal and Deepavali and 50 volunteers received T-Shirts from CCTP Traffic Commissioner.

· 10 students along with Dr. S. Jayakumar participated in Fight- Against Cancer programme at Vani Mahal on 12/1/2006.

· 82 students led by Shanmugam III B.Com, Reji and Ganesh (II B.Sc Maths), Krishna Raj, Ananda Vel, Arun Babu participated in the Run for Peace. Many students obtained placing in the run. The students were given T-Shirts by Police.

· 21 Rotaract students assisted the Ramakrishna Jayanthi Celebrations.

· Rally led by Reji and Ganesh was organized to fight terrorism and corruption.

· Silambu Demonstration was given by Dayalan I B.Com, Ananda Vel (III B.Sc Maths) and Dr.S. Jayakumar on Jan 26^th 2006.

· Dr. S. Jayakumar and Shanumugam (are invited by the Rotary Board of Directors for the presentation on Rotaract activities of the colleges. The activities were appreciated by Rtn. Governor and Board Members.

· Rotaract club distributed 500 pamphlets highlighting the importance of blood donation.

· A Motor bike rally for World AIDS Day 3^rd Dec 2005 “Accept, Act and Achieve” was flagged off by T.T. Ashok, Chairman, Corporate Social Responsibility Sub Committee.

· Along with Smile, Rotaract conducted Road Safety and the Need for Blood Donation Campaign .

One day camp was organized on 25^th March 2006, at Cancer Institute and Old Age Home.
