Staff Achievements:

 

Prof. K. N. Ranganathan:

1.      Invited as Speaker in the “International Conference on “Mathematics Education” organized by National Board for Higher Mathematics, IGNOU and NCERT at New Delhi and gave a talk on “Teaching of Geometry”.

2.      Conducted workshop for school teachers under the auspices of  Association of Mathematics Teachers of   India at the following centers: Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Coimbatore, and Pondicherry.

3.      Gave “Ramanujan Address” in the Ramanujan Academy, Chennai.

4.      Gave an invited talk to Teachers of Mathematics in Ramanujan Academy, Chennai.

5.      Conducted Inter Collegiate Quiz in Mathematics at Vaishnav College for women, Chrompet.

6.      Conducted Annual Inter Collegiate Quiz in Mathematics at IIT Madras.

7.      Gave a talk at Sai Ram Engineering College to Engineering Students.

8.      Continues to be Regional Coordinator for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad, NBHM, DAE, Govt.  of India.

9.      Continues to be Talent Secretary, for Association of Mathematical Teachers of India.

10.  Conducted Training Camp for Olympiad Aspirants at Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Taramani, Chennai.

11.  Gave a  talk in the Department of Mathematics, IIT Madras on 31-03-06.

Prof. T. Jagathesan:

Visited Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, for three weeks in May 2005.

 

Dr. M. Manickam:

1.                                Visited Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, for one month  in May 2005.

2.                                Gave the Valedictory Address in UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Recent Trend in Applied Mathematics”, October 2005, Gobi Arts and Science College (Autonomous College).

3.                                A research paper on “Eichler – Zagier Map for Jacobi forms of half-integral weight” has been accepted for publication in Pacific Journal of Mathematics.

4.                                Has reviewed seven American Mathematical Society articles during 2005-06.

 

Prof. K. Kumaraswamy:                   

1.                                Visited Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, for three weeks in May 2005.

2.                                Attended a Refresher Course conducted by Academic Staff College, University of Madras during November 2005.

                       

Prof. S. Manimaran:             

Participated in the national workshop on “Fuzzy Set Theory and its Applications” organized by Stella Maris College, Chennai in July 2005.                

 

Dr. V. Selvan:

Departmental Activities:

The Mathematics Association was inaugurated by Prof. Kapil Paranjape of Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai. There were several lectures during the course of the year, by eminent Mathematicians from research institutes. The Valedictory Function was held in April 2006.

 

Prof. K. Subramanian Endowment Lecture:  “On Structure Theorem for Linear Transformations” was given by Prof. Kumaresan, Mumbai University, Mumbai, on 6th March 2006.

 

Harish Chandra Memorial Lecture: “Complex Polynomials” by Prof. Kulkarni, IIT Madras, on 29th March 2006.

 

Prof. K. Subramanian Inter College Talent Examination was held on 20th March 2006.

 

C.T. Ananda Rau Examination on Analysis was held on 24th March 2006.
