Pugazhenthy
Attended a
One-day Workshop on ‘Social
Entrepreneurship’ held in M. O. P. Vaishnav College on 16th December
2005 and a National Seminar on “Tourism in South India: Trends and Travails”
conducted by the Department of Indian History, University of Madras, on 24th
and 25th January 2006.
Attended a
One-day Symposium on “Anti-Tobacco Campaign” held at the University of Madras,
on 1st March 2006.and a meeting on “Youth Task Force” held at the
Office of the Assistant Commissioner (Traffic) on 25th February
2006.

Yesubakthan
Attended a
Workshop on ‘Oral History’ conducted by the Office of Public Affairs, U.S.
Consulate General for South India and Department of History, Women’s Christian
College, Chennai, on 9th January 2006.
Profs. J.
P. Vivekanandan and V. Mahalingam attended Gandhian Symposium held at Gandhi
Mandapam on 28th August 2005.
Association
Activities
The
Association Activities were inaugurated on 10th August 2005 by Dr.
V. V. Subramanian. Special Addresses were delivered by by Dr. Lalitha
Ramamurthy, Chairperson, Gandhi Peace Foundation, Dr. S. Kulandaisami,
Secretary, Gandhi Peace Foundation, and Sri Jitendra Desai, Managing Trustee,
Navajeevan Trust, Ahmedabad.
On 8th
September 2005, Sri M. Rajagopalan, Retired Personnel, Govt. of India, Dept. of
Human Resources, gave at talk on “Civil Service as a Career.”
On 7th October 2005, Sri
R. Krishnan, an alumnus of the college, shared his views on “Students’
Participation in Politics”.
On 23rd
March 2006, Dr. B. Subramanian, Reader in History, Presidency College, gave a
talk on “History and its New Outlook” during the Valedictory Function.
STUDENTS’
ACTIVITIES
J.Senthilmurugan
(2002-2005) secured the 11th Rank in the University Examinations,
2005, in B.A. History.
Our students won prizes in the various cultural festivals conducted by various city colleges and other organizations.
E. Suresh and M. Manoharan of Final Year B.A. Historical Studies participated in an Inter-Collegiate Quiz Competition on World Tourism Day conducted by India Tourism, Incredible India, Government of India, Southern Regional Office, Chennai, held on 27th September 2005.
M.
Manoharan participated in the Heritage Walk March in Mylapore, Chennai.
Our
students participated in the HISTORICA’ 05 conducted by the Department of
History, Tourism & Human Rights of Ethiraj College for Women and won Second
Prize in Quiz and Debate held on 8th December 2005.
M.
Manoharan and E. Suresh participated and won Second Prize in the
Inter-Collegiate Oratorical
Competition conducted by S.I.E.T. College ,Chennai, on 1st
February 2006.
Our
students attended the “Archives Week Celebrations” and Danti Yatra Exhibition (1st to 7th
February 2006) conducted by the Special Commissioner of Archives &
Historical Research, Egmore, Chennai-8.
Our
students also attended a National Conference on “Students’ Rights and Responsibilities
under Democracy” held at Loyola College on 6th March 2006.
