DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Computer Science Association was inaugurated on 19th September 2005 and a lecture on “(dot) NET and Web Services” was presented by Sri S. Kumar, Architect Advisor – Microsoft India.  A seminar on “DNA Computing” was presented by Dr. Murugan on 16th March 2006.  A lecture on “Network Security” was given by Sri T. Srinivasan on 28th March 2006.

An intra-departmental competition was conducted on 20th and 21st March 2006.  The events comprised of a Quiz Competition, a Debugging Competition, a Web Designing Competition and a mock HR interview.

 

Staff Achievements and activities:

Prof. P. Prabhu of Computer Science Department cleared ASRB-NET successfully and completed M.Phil. in Computer Science.

Prof. K. Satyanarayana, Prof. S. Babu, Prof. J. Sekaran, Prof. P. Gururaj, and Prof. K. Rajan Babu attended a Seminar on “(dot) NET Technologies”.

A Seminar on products of Sun Micro systems was attended by Prof. K. Satyanarayana, Prof. S. Arockiaraj, Prof. S. Babu,  and Prof. J. Sekaran.

 

Students’ Achievements:

In April 2005 University examination, B.Sc. Computer Science students registered an 87% pass, B.C.A. students got 58% pass, and M.Sc. Information Technology students obtained 75% pass.

During the academic year 2005-2006, computer science students participated in a number of competitions and won several prizes, some of them being: First Prize in Web Designing (at D. G. Vaishnav College), First Prize in Hot Seat, Net Craft, Concept Art and Cold War (at Loyola College), Second Prize in Web Designing and Paper Presentation (at T. S. Narayanaswami College of Arts and Science).

Three students got appointed in IGATE global solutions, two in CTS and one in TRIAD Software.
