COMMERCE ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES   

On 3rd August 2005, Commerce Association was  inaugurated  by Swami Satyapriyananda, Secretary, followed by a lecture by  Sri R. Anand, B.Com., F.C.A, Vice President, Sundaram Finance,  on “Role of Non-Banking Finance Corporation”.

 

On 11th August 2005, Sri Vasudeva Rao Anand, B.Com., M.B.A., Finance Manager, Kellogs Corporation, USA, delivered  a lecture on “Marketing  Strategies  in US  and the Recent Developments in India”. He also spoke on “The Scope for Students of Commerce in the Global  Environment”.

 

On 24th August 2005, Ms. Roopa, Head of Placement Division of APTEC gave a lecture on “Interview Techniques”.

 

On 1st September 2005, Dr. M.S. Vijayakumari from Career Plan spoke on “The Various Options Available for Commerce Students in Professional and Other Related Areas”.

 

On 2nd September 2005, Suresh Balakrishnan, Bar-At-Law, London, spoke to the students on “The Prospects in Legal Profession and the Comparative Legal System in India and West”.

 

On 12th September 2005, Prof. Gangadharan from IFMR gave a lecture on Prospects for Higher Education in the Field of Management Studies.

 

On 24th February 2006, a team of experts from Career Plan spoke on “The Role of Personnel Managers and the Growing Need for Human Resource Personnel in Recent Times Due to Market Developments and Reforms in the Economy”.

 

On 10th March 2006, there was the Valedictory Function. Sri R. Anand, Vice President, Sundaram Finance Ltd., spoke on “Budget 2006”.

 

STAFF ACHIEVEMENTS

Participated in a seminar at Loyola College on “Accounting Standards”.

 

Attended a seminar on “e-commerce – the expanding frontiers” at Meenakshi College

 

Prof. V. Sridharan

Participated in a one day National Level Seminar organized by the Indian Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at Chennai.

 

Attended a lecture by Dr. Parthasarathi Shome (Advisor to finance minister, Ministry of finance, Government of India) organized by Scientific Research Association for Economics and Finance, on 6th February 2006.

 

Dr. P. R. RAMAKRISHNAN

 

August 5th & 6th 2005

1) Was a Resource Person for a National Level Seminar sponsored by UGC at Thirupattur Sacred Heart College and spoke on “E-Banking and E-Money”.

2) Attended a lecture by Dr. Jayaprakash Narain on the topic “The First World People and the Third World Politics.

3) Participated in a one day National Level Seminar organized by the Indian Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) at Chennai.

4) Was Resource Person for a National Level Seminar held at Asan Memorial College, Chennai, and spoke on “Value Added Tax”.

5) Published an article on “The Financial Distress Prediction” in ICFAI Journal Applied Finance, September 2005.

6) Attended a lecture by Dr. Parthasarathi Shome (Advisor to Finance Minister, Ministry of Finance, Government of India), on “How to Achieve Ten Percent GDP” organized by Scientific Research Association for Economics and Finance, on 6th February 2006.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS

S. Harish, B. Com. B, I Year, participated in a seminar on “Model UN Conference” at Delhi.

 

K. Madhavan B. Com. A, III Year, presented a paper at Ethiraj college on “Global Banking and Financial Markets”. He won the second prize in a poetry competition.

 

Two students cleared I.C.W.I Foundation and A.C.S Foundation. Narayanan of B. Com. A, II Year, cleared I.C.W.I Inter.

 

Five of the students cleared C.A. Foundation.

 

In cultural events held at various colleges, students won a number of prizes, awards, medals, and cash awards.  B. Com., II Year, won the Rolling Shield of M.C.C, B.B.A department culturals.
